Belvedere Park and Greater Community Loses a Living Legacy and Morns Passing of Ann Brown

Updated: Apr 16, 2021

Ladies and gentlemen of Belvedere Park it is with great sorrow that we report to you the passing of Ms. Ann Brown. She was our neighbor in the Belvedere Park community for over 40 years and was the president of the Belvedere Civic Club for 15 years. During her tenure as president of the Belvedere Civic Club she worked tirelessly as a stalwart neighborhood advocate.

As a result of Ann Brown’s continuous, consistent, and effective effort, she was recognized at all levels of our government as an outstanding community leader. In March 2017 during Woman’s History Month Ann Brown was recognized as being “… President of the Great Historic Belvedere Community, public servant, and advocate … “ and as a “… Living Legacy of DeKalb County …” by DeKalb CEO Michael Thurman and the entire DeKalb County Board of Commissioners. A photograph of this ceremony is included in this post showing DeKalb County Super District 6 Commissioner Kathy Gannon, the Presiding Officer of the DeKalb County Board of Commissioners, presenting the Proclamation to Ms. Brown. During the 2016 legislative session the Georgia House of Representatives enacted House Resolution 1849 recognizing and commending Ms. Brown for her community service. The text to of this Resolution is provided below. Also, during 2016 President Barack Obama thanked Ann Brown for her many years of dedicated service to the citizens of Georgia and extended his wishes for her continued success in life.

We extend our condolences to the family of Ms. Ann Brown during this time of sorrow.

Ann Brown, may you Rest In Peace knowing that your successful efforts will continue.
