Downed Trees/ Damaged Trees

If the downed tree is causing an immediate danger, call 911. Do this if the tree has fallen into the street, has snapped power lines, crushed vehicles, or is causing danger to people or property.

  • If a damaged tree is on public property (i.e., a right-of-way or street tree, in a public park, or on other county-owned land), call 404-297-3840

  • If a damaged tree is on private property (i.e, in your yard, a parking lot, commercial property, etc.), your local tree protection ordinance (TPO) may require you to obtain a permit before pruning or removing a tree. DeKalb County Public Works Department
Roads & Drainage Division can help. You can also consider contacting a Certified Arborist to assess the damage and discuss next steps. Click HERE for a list.
